Hanging In There, But Barely

I don't have a lot of time to blog right now, but here's a quick update on Little Dude...

He's not eating any better.  He still cries a lot when he tries eating, and I spend most of my day trying to feed him and holding him because he cries if I put him down.  We did another blood draw last week to check for H. Pylori, food allergies, and some other things that I can't remember and all the tests came back negative which is good, but means that we still don't know why the poor little guy is having such a hard time eating.  His first blood draw a little over a week ago showed high eosinophil levels so he's now on Nutramigen formula and Zantac.  I've been at the doctor with him quite a few times in the last few weeks and at his appointment today, we saw that he'd lost weight over the weekend.  I'm taking him back in tomorrow for another blood draw and then he has another doctor appointment on Wednesday if we don't end up seeing a specialist before then.

We've been trying different bottles and nipples including Haberman bottles which are designed for babies with cleft palate.  Little Dude has an unusually high roof in his mouth and we know that he doesn't suck correctly, but we're not sure if he has cleft palate yet or not.  It definitely wouldn't surprise me though as Hubby was born with a cleft palate and it can be genetic.

At this point, I'm beyond exhausted.  Because I spend so much of my time working to get Little Dude to eat and going to doctor appointments, I can barely manage to take care of the basics for the rest of my family and my home, let alone get anything unpacked which means that we're still living in a mess of boxes and chaos.

Any prayers are appreciated that we'll figure out what's going on with Little Dude so we can get him eating better!

  2. Oh my goodness, what a tough thing to go through! Thankfully it seems like you've got doctors who are working to help get it figured out. I've heard of other moms with problems like this and the doctors tell them they just have to wait it out. It'll get better. I can't even imagine. I hope you get everything worked out soon!
